Closer Than The Breath

 
When you say you are closer
To me than my own breath
So far, it was just a poetic expression
Until today when I  realise its depth

Before I breath in my tears
Before I laugh out with tears
it's you who check me out
Ensuring my survival
with either kind of the tears

Closer than the breath truly
Gloomy day, happy or moody
Unknowingly I did judge you poorly
We are closer absolutely
closer than the breath

After I breathe my last

I will have you as my companion

Surely this is also not

 just a poetic expression 

Such an Assurance this is

that you are closer to me

than my own breath

I am not lonely 

whether alive or dead

The inner voice of mine

My guiding light

you are closer to me

than my own breath

Most ignored & taken for granted

Loved & trustworthy Friend

In true sense a soulmate

you are closer to me

than my own breath
